As a part of President Obama’s “Now Is the Time” initiative, the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) funds community grants to support Mental Health First Aid® training in schools and communities across the country. School personnel, coaches, faith leaders and others in the community are being trained every day to recognize and respond to the signs of mental health and substance use problems in youth and to connect adolescents and their families to the appropriate services and supports. Learn more about the grant program at http://www.samhsa.gov/priorities/now-is-the-time.
In Maryland, we work with the Maryland State Department of Education to make Mental Health First Aid training available to schools and their community partners.
